MitoMom is an independent educational project focused on mtDNA genealogy, maternal lines, and family history. This page explains what information we collect when you visit mitomom.org and how it is used.
Information we collect
- Contact messages. If you email us at hello@mitomom.com or message us on Facebook, we receive whatever you choose to send (name, email address, and message content).
- Basic analytics. We record anonymous page views and button clicks so we can improve the site. We do not build advertising profiles.
- DNA data. MitoMom does not collect, store, or process your DNA results. Any files you download or upload (such as the Mito Matrix or your FTDNA matches) stay on your own device and on the third-party services you choose to use.
How we use it
Contact information is used only to reply to you. Analytics are used to understand which lessons and pages are helpful. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Third-party services
MitoMom links to and references third parties (FamilyTreeDNA, MITOMAP, PhyloTree, ISOGG, AI tools, and others). Their handling of your data is governed by their own policies, not this one.
